BUILD LAB 1
11 November 2026 · 09:00–13:00 SAST
Johannesburg or online
That app your business keeps meaning to build? Start here. AI has made it easier to build your own software. This highly-practical Build Lab helps you take the next step: building a simple app, deploying it and learning a setup for more complex projects.
Join fellow founders and business leaders for a 45-minute masterclass followed by two and a half hours of guided building, using Lovable and Claude Code.
Free for qualifying businesses. Limited seats available.

Facilitator
Led by Jason Goldberg, serial entrepreneur, best-selling author and AI scaling coach.
AI has made building software more accessible. Knowing how to build, launch and maintain an app still takes guidance.
You may have heard of vibe coding: using AI to turn plain-language instructions into code. For founders, this opens up a powerful possibility: turning your understanding of a business problem into a tool that helps solve it. A quote calculator, an internal tracker or an idea you’ve kept putting off becomes something you can start building and testing yourself.
You don’t need a technical background to take part. This Build Lab guides you through two setups: Lovable for simple apps and Claude Code for more complex builds.
You’ll work through building and deploying a simple app in Lovable. Then, you’ll set up an app-building workspace using Claude Code, GitHub, Vercel and Supabase, and start a second app. Over the following six weeks, two Build Clinics will help you work through questions and challenges as you continue towards completing it.
Work through a guided build in Lovable, with the aim of getting your first app live during the session.
Get started with Claude Code, GitHub, Vercel and Supabase; a setup you can return to for future projects.
Begin a more complex build in Claude Code and continue developing it after Lab Day.
Bring your post-Lab questions and building challenges to the team for guidance as you continue.
Use the included AI Build Assistant to support your work beyond the session.
Founders and leaders who are still the person their business cannot run without. Typically that is an owner-led South African business turning over somewhere between R8 million and R150 million, with a team of roughly 10 to 200 people, past the start-up stage and feeling the weight of scale.
No. If you have typed a question into ChatGPT, you have all the skill the day requires. The Lab Kit and the room do the technical part with you. You bring knowledge of your business.
A working AI system for your business, on your laptop, by the time you leave. Plus the Lab Kit as your AI Build Assistant, and Build Clinics afterwards. Not a finished product in a day, and not the habit. The next steps are yours to build, with help.
No. Founders at Work is open to any owner-led South African business that fits the size band, whichever bank you use.
